CSEC INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY
Course Overview
This course provides a complete and focused preparation for CSEC Information Technology, combining theory, productivity tools and problem-solving in one streamlined programme.
Students will develop:
– Strong understanding of computer systems and networks
– Practical skills in Word Processing, Spreadsheets and Databases
– Problem-solving and basic programming skills
– Confidence for Paper 1, Paper 2 and SBA
Course Content
WEEK 1 – COMPUTER FUNDAMENTALS & NETWORKS
Overview
Students build a strong foundation in computer systems and connectivity.
– Computer hardware and software
– Input, output and storage devices
– IPOS cycle and information processing
– Computer networks and web technologies
WEEK 2 – PRODUCTIVITY TOOLS (PART 1)
Overview
Students develop practical skills using productivity software.
– Word Processing (documents, formatting, mail merge)
– Web page design basics
– Communication technology (email, internet use)
– Cybersecurity and safe internet practices
WEEK 3 – PRODUCTIVITY TOOLS (PART 2)
Overview
Students expand skills in data management and analysis.
– Spreadsheets (formulas, functions, charts)
– Database management (tables, queries, reports)
– Data validation and verification
– Information systems and applications
WEEK 4 – PROBLEM SOLVING, PROGRAMMING & EXAM PREP
Overview
Students develop logical thinking and prepare for exams.
– Problem-solving steps and IPO charts
– Flowcharts and pseudocode
– Basic programming concepts
– Exam practice (Paper 1 + Paper 2 + SBA guidance)
