CSEC CHEMISTRY

Course Overview

This course provides a complete and focused preparation for CSEC Chemistry, covering principles of chemistry, organic chemistry, and inorganic chemistry in one streamlined programme.

Students will develop:

Course Content

WEEK 1 – PRINCIPLES OF CHEMISTRY (FOUNDATION)

Overview
Students build core concepts in matter, atomic structure and bonding.

– States of matter and changes

– Mixtures and separation techniques

– Atomic structure and periodic table

– Bonding (ionic, covalent, metallic)

WEEK 2 – QUANTITATIVE CHEMISTRY & REACTIONS

Overview
Students develop calculation skills and understand reactions.

– Mole concept and calculations

– Chemical equations and balancing

– Acids, bases and salts

– Redox reactions and electrochemistry

WEEK 3 – ORGANIC CHEMISTRY

Overview
Students explore carbon compounds and their uses.

– Hydrocarbons (alkanes and alkenes)

– Alcohols, acids and esters

– Reactions of organic compounds

– Polymers and everyday applications

WEEK 4 – INORGANIC CHEMISTRY & EXAM PREPARATION

Overview
Students examine metals, non-metals and real-world applications.

– Properties of metals and non-metals

– Reactivity and extraction of metals

– Gases and environmental chemistry

– Exam practice (Paper 1 & Paper 2 techniques)
