WEEK 1 – INTRODUCTION & FINANCIAL POSITION

– Types of business organisations
– Accounting equation (Assets = Capital + Liabilities)
– Preparation of simple and classified balance sheets
WEEK 2 – BOOKS OF ORIGINAL ENTRY & LEDGERS
Overview Students learn how transactions are recorded and organised.
– Books of original entry (sales, purchases, cash book)
– Source documents and transactions
– Posting to ledgers (double entry system)
– Trial balance preparation and purpose
WEEK 3 – FINANCIAL STATEMENTS & ADJUSTMENTS
Overview Students prepare financial statements and understand adjustments.
Overview Students explore advanced accounting topics and exam techniques.
– Control systems (bank reconciliation, suspense accounts)
– Partnership and company accounts basics
– Incomplete records
– Exam practice (Paper 1 & Paper 2 techniques)
