Course Overview
This course provides a complete and focused preparation for CSEC Principles of Business, covering organizational principles, business operations, and the wider economic environment in one streamlined programme.
Students will develop:

WEEK 1 – THE NATURE OF BUSINESS & ORGANIZATION
Overview
Students learn foundational business concepts and how businesses operate.
– Basic business concepts (goods, services, profit, trade)
– Forms of business organisations
– Economic systems (capitalist, socialist, mixed)
– Functions and roles of businesses in society
WEEK 2 – INTERNAL OPERATIONS & ESTABLISHING A BUSINESS
Overview
Students explore how businesses are structured and started.
– Functional areas (production, marketing, finance, HR)
– Management functions and leadership styles
– Steps to establishing a business
– Entrepreneurship and business planning
WEEK 3 – PRODUCTION, MARKETING & FINANCE
Overview
Students understand how businesses produce, sell and manage money.
– Factors of production and types of production
– Marketing mix (product, price, place, promotion)
– Consumer behaviour and market research
– Sources of finance and role of banks
WEEK 4 – GOVERNMENT, GLOBAL TRADE & EXAM PREPARATION
Overview
Students examine the wider business environment and prepare for exams.
– Role of government in business and taxation
– Consumer protection and regulations
– International trade and global business
– Exam practice (Paper 1 & Paper 2 techniques)
