Course Overview

This course provides a complete and focused preparation for CSEC English Language (2027 exam), aligned with the revised syllabus structure which includes informative, literary, and
persuasive discourse.

WEEK 1 – INFORMATIVE DISCOURSE

Students develop skills to understand and respond to informative texts.

– Interpreting data, diagrams and visuals

WEEK 2 – LITERARY DISCOURSE

Students explore literary texts and develop analytical skills.

– Understanding prose, poetry and drama
– Identifying themes and literary devices
– Analysing characters and settings
– Responding to literary questions

WEEK 3 – PERSUASIVE DISCOURSE

Overview
Students learn how to analyse and produce persuasive writing.

– Understanding persuasive techniques
– Identifying bias and opinion
– Writing argumentative responses
– Developing logical arguments

WEEK 4 – WRITING & EXAM PREPARATION

Overview
Students consolidate writing skills and prepare for exams.

– Structured writing (essays and responses)
– Functional and creative writing
– Editing and proofreading
– Exam practice (Paper 1 & Paper 2 techniques)
