WEEK 1 – READING COMPREHENSION & ANALYSIS
Overview Students develop skills to understand, interpret and analyse passages.
– Identifying main ideas and supporting details – Understanding vocabulary in context – Making inferences and drawing conclusions – Analysing tone, purpose and writer techniques
WEEK 2 – SUMMARY WRITING
Overview Students learn how to extract key ideas and write clear, concise summaries
– Identifying key points in passages – Removing unnecessary information – Paraphrasing using own words – Writing structured summaries
WEEK 3 – COMPOSITION WRITING
Overview Students develop skills in writing structured essays and compositions
– Essay structure (introduction, body, conclusion) – Narrative and descriptive writing – Organising ideas clearly – Using appropriate language and style
WEEK 4 – FUNCTIONAL WRITING & EXAM PREPARATION
Overview Students focus on practical writing tasks and exam readiness.
– Formal and informal writing (letters, emails) – Reports, notices and announcements – Editing and proofreading skills – Exam practice (Paper 1 & Paper 2 techniques)
